Hi, I’m Kevin, a child & adult therapist at Intersection Therapy & Advocacy in North Vancouver, British Columbia. I provide neurodivergent-affirming therapy support for children between the ages of 4 to 10 years old and adults (19+) both in-person (North Vancouver) and online (across BC). What is neurodivergent-affirming therapy?
Simply put, it's therapy that embraces all that you are. It means creating a space where you are accepted as you are, without trying to change or "fix" you. Instead of focusing on deficits, we'll focus on building skills, supporting emotional well-being, and creating strategies that work for each person’s unique way of being in the world. A big part of my approach also includes navigating things like masking, professional burnout, and acknowledging the real-world barriers neurodivergent people face, both kids and adults, including stereotypes and prejudice.

Who is Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy For?
Anyone and everyone that aligns with the neurodivergent community, both neurodiverent people themselves, as well as loved ones, friends, queer platonic partners, or others. You may be professionally diagnosed, self-diagnosed, or wondering about neurodivergence. I do not provide diagnostic services, but can provide you with referrals to local providers if you are interested.
Examples of different neurotypes include Autism, ADHD, AuDHD (Autistic + ADHD), PDA, Sensory Processing Disorder, and HSP (Highly Sensitive Persons).
Approach to Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy
Therapy is tailored to meet your needs and goals. My approach includes:
Adapted Therapies for Neurodivergence: Adaptations are made to therapy modalities, like EMDR, to be neurodivergent-affirming. Read more about EMDR Therapy.
Sensory-Friendly Environment: The therapy space is adapted to be more comfortable, flexible, and responsive to your sensory needs for in-person sessions (e.g., fidgets, different lighting, sensory toys). Online sessions, or a combination or in-person and online sessions, are also available to meet different needs.
Responsive to Common Experience: Experiences like aphantasia, alexithymia, or challenges with interoception are all taken into account and supported.
Resilience-building Strategies: We'll build upon your existing skills. What has helped you get to today? We'll work through past adversities to help you to navigate future challenges.
Collaboration with Families: For children, I work closely with caregivers and the family unit to support therapy goals both in-session and at home.

Autism Funding Unit (AFU) for Therapy
Families of autistic children in North Vancouver may be able to use their Autism Funding Unit (AFU) funds to cover therapy services. The AFU approves funding on a case-by-case basis. If you are interested in using AFU funds, ask Kevin for the Request to Pay form to submit for approval. Email me today at support [at] intersectiontherapy.ca.
